Dedicated Server SSD Fundraiser

Recommended Posts

We have recently upgraded our server to a dedicated hosting solution and it has been a success. We have managed to lower load times and now have a much smoother game play. Now we would like to increase server performance even farther to reduce additional lag by upgrading to SSD Hard Drives. Depending on how much money we can bring in on this fundraiser will depend on what we upgrade to, but we would like to upgrade to an SDD with lots of memory so that we have room to grow. An SSD Hard Drive can run up to 15 times faster than a standard hard drive and Increase user productivity and cut time spent on everyday tasks at impressive speeds. Here is an example SSD that we have in mind for this upgrade: Kingston SSDNow KC400 SKC400S3B7A/1T 2.5" 1TB SATA III Business Solid State Disk.

Help us reach our goal of $160 by donating today. Any amount left over will go towards next months expenses. Click here to make a small donation and help out our community. Donations are always appreciated but never required. Donators also receive perks for their donations. :)

Thanks for all the work you put into this, it is greatly appreciated!

I've already donated for the new hard drive, and I hope that the rest of the community comes through so you can get the hardware you want.

SSD's would be a great improvement to the overall fps! And I'd recommend as a stop-gap measure to partition your existing hard drives so that you can put the page file on it's own partition, thus eliminating the need to ever defragment the system which speeds things up significantly.

Thank you for everyone that had donated and the unused funds will go towards next months expenses. I will install this, sometime tomorrow so that we will be able to have a better and more enjoyable server. Best Regards. :)

A conversation was started today about upgrading the ram as well as the SSD hard drive which is currently on its way. The SSD hard drive was also delayed in the mail and hopefully will arrive by tomorrow so that it can be installed soon. As far as the ram goes, its currently at 8gb right now and for an 8gb upgrade of ram costs about $62 for a server. I would like to upgrade the server to 32gb of total ram available to have an excellent server that will be dedicated to only 7 days to die. Most of the problems that caused the server to freeze up is mostly due to a limited amount of ram available. This upgrade is optional and anyone can donate if they would like to however, to reach 32gb of ram it will cost between $200 and $300, depending on what is purchased. The server is a Dell Poweredge T110 and is running on windows server 2008 operating system. All donations are appreciated but never required. I am also willing to put all of next months donations towards this upgrade rather than to the monthly operating expenses, which I will cover the costs. Furthermore, I will post more information about this upgrade when I find compatible ram for the server and also I will post more information about the server specs. If any one has any comments or questions at all, please don't hesitate to reply to this thread. Best Regards.

IT HAS ARRIVED... :D... I hope you are as excited as I am now that the SSD hard drive has arrived in the mail today. The server is gonna go offline for awhile so that I can install this SSD hard drive and reinstall window server 2008 OS and set everything back up as before. I will post when it has finished and is ready to play on. Check back soon.

I have just ordered 2 compatible sticks of ram to upgrade it to 16gb of available ram for this server. The total cost was $96 and it will arrive on November 4th. This should be enough ram for the server and after doing research, this seems to be the max limit set for the Poweredge T110 with a Xeon 3430 processor. Furthermore, this game is constantly being improved upon so in future versions of this game, it will most likely become less of a resource hog compared to previous versions.

Is this why server is currently down, for server upgrade?   :)

Internet crashed. :|

Unfortunately after upgrading and doing further research, Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation Operating System, only allows 8gb total of ram so I am gonna try to change operating systems to something different to be able to raise this limit.

Read more about the ram limits for different windows operating systems here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778(v=vs.85).aspx
