Server Upgrade to Dedicated

Recommended Posts

I am currently in the process of upgrading the server to a dedicated hosting solution. I will back up the world and upload it to the new server so you can continue where you left off. The current server will be offline during this process and will finish the moment I am able to backup and upload these files. I will post when I have finished this transition. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

The world contains about 8.2 GB of data and has about 15,000 individual files if anybody is curious to know. The new server is now online at a new ip address and can be found in the server list.

Thank you for all of the time you put in it.  :)

Seems there is still a few bugs and kinks to work out with the server solution as the lag has gotten to be unbearable. I have flushed my dns so many times that you'd think it was a toilet and I'd had the the runs! Just getting onto the server is impossible at this point. I think your problem is much bigger than a few sticks of dynamite or TNT though they do cause a lot of lag... might even result from exploding gas barrels or "cave-in" mining which is a really efficient way to clear out a room when it's done a little bit at a time, but when a player tries to clear out a much larger room of for example 16 x 29 from bedrock up (as I once did on the RUM -PVP server) it can have devastating consequences to not only your fps but also your entire map. Mining out huge chunks of rock and ores using the "cave-in" technique may be the quickest way to clear a room but it is so quick that the server can't keep up with so many calculations and you'll find that the rock you intended to remove using this method will only hang there in mid air as one of the tell tale signs that someone's been excessively using the cave-in mechanic of the game to speed things along in their building. I believe it's ok to use but not abuse the game's own mechanics and make them work for you instead of against you ---But the excessive use of this particular game mechanic works against everyone!
