Vanilla vs. Modded

17 members have voted

  1. 1. What do you think would be best for our 7 Days To Die game server, vanilla or modified?

    • Vanilla - Im for the default server settings that the Fun Pimps have created for multiplayer servers.

    • Modded - Lets modify the server to build a more custom and unique experience for our community.

Vanilla. I mean some modded doesn't hurt as long as players know how to add in the modded materials EG: Fishing    --  Huge mods like valmod etc will add a lot of extra materials that players will have to download etc to see/not complain on the full feature. But I think there is a way to add modified to the server that won't really hit the community negatively.  I also think u admins should add into ur xml admin tools. Depending on your like its not a hard addition or intensive cpu wise.

Now different modded as in stacks etc- ez - Id prefer that -- Change the weather- stacks of sizes u use etc ALOT BETTER then the pimps--

Vanilla means no /zgates, no /sethome, no /trader#, no warps whatsoever, right?   I kind of like having some warps....

And what about /day7?

I don't think vanilla means no zgates. The server is currently vanila, there's a section in the server browser when picking which 7d2d server you connect to for modded servers.  The mod packs do things like change stack sizes, modded recipes, etc.

At least I hope vanilla still includes zgates. I voted for vanilla because I dont want those tweaks to recipies, stack sizes, zombie mods, etc.

are zgates what we use to go to the trader or is that something else?

They aren't in single player mode, or on many other servers, so I would think they are a mod of some sort.  Not sure if they are considered a type of zgate or not.  Zgates are /zgate visit (name).  Each person gets to create three of their own with /zgate create (name).  You never use zgates before I take it?  You can see a list of public zgates with /zgate list public or private ones with /zgate list.  You can delete your zgates with /zgate delete (name).

Yeah, I think Piranha couldn't make it work for free, so he gave everyone lots of coins or raised the number of coins per kill alot.   /Home and /zgates are the only thing that use  we have for zcoins on this server, I think.

Vanilla is an unmodified version of a game without any changes to the xml files that would create a more custom version of the game. Having that said their are server modifications as well as game modifications, for example the /zgate command is part of a server mod which is why the server comes up as an unmodified game in the server listing.

So having commands and other server related modifications will still be considered as a vanilla server since the game itself would not be modified and altered.

Personally I like how it is now. Vanilla with the zgate function. I see the zgate function as a workaround for the busted minibikes and I don't consider that a mod in the sense that it's not adding different types of zombies, or adding the ability to make unobtanium walls by mixing human poo with rotting meat in a old washing machine that the flying feral zombie pigs drop :P

Once minibikes have been fixed zgate or no zgate wouldn't make a difference to me.

Edit: come to think of it, flying feral zombie pigs might be funny... no one really builds bases to protect from flying zombies ;)

Oh sweet, you can change my vote then.  I like the server the way it is now, with zgates. Mods would be a cool addition, but could cause more lag, possibly, and thus wouldn't be worth it.  Still, hoping for mini bikes one day, if they ever optimize the game and fix the glitches.

Would the fish from fishing really be safe? They are likely to have 3 eyes, and eat you, due to the radiation exposure.
