DJ 186 Report post Posted July 10, 2016 We are currently looking for additional funding to transfer our game servers over to a more professional and more improved game server. This will cost more per month but it will be totally worth it since the server wont have anything else on it but just one game server. This will also result in a more smoother and more stable game-play as well as better stability since it wont have any usage limits enforced on the server since we will have 100% control over it. Also we can always upgrade the server if we ever needed to without reaching its max limits unlike with our current shared hosting providers. This will raise our monthly expense goals from $50 for just one 7 days to die server with limited resources (40 players max with lots of random reboots and crashes) to about $130 a month, for an unlimited, dedicated, and stable game server with lots of room to upgrade if needed. If you support this idea and want to make this into a reality, we will gladly make the upgrade sometime this month or possibly sometime closer to when alpha 15 comes out for 7 days to die. Dedicated Game Server Specs: 2 GB Ram 512 GB Storage Unlimited Bandwidth Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1220 v3 @ 3.10GHz This will result in shutting down two of our 7 days to die game servers since they wouldn't be needed anymore (PVE, PVE 2). Futhermore, we most likely will keep the PVP game server with 7 days to die available for now until we decide to upgrade that at a later date.
McCragge 6 Report post Posted July 10, 2016 Is this a one time donation, a monthly recurring donation, and where do we send the cash?
DJ 186 Report post Posted July 10, 2016 You can donate as little or as much as you would like to, however this dedicated server would cost about $130 on a monthly reoccurring basis. Our monthly goal for expenses will also be about the same at $180, by the time we change everything over. Click Here to visit our donations page, http://www.redhatgamers.com/donations.html/. KapitanGopnik 58 Report post Posted July 10, 2016 In the long run, it sounds like a good investment, especially if the performance and stability can be kept up.

DJ 186 Report post Posted July 10, 2016 Just now, CaptRichards said: In the long run, it sounds like a good investment, especially if the performance and stability can be kept up. I believe dedicated is the way to go instead of paying some provider for a "limited service".
dsaber66 7 Report post Posted July 11, 2016 Sounds like a solid idea. The population across both servers has grown in the past 4 months. There should be enough players to support this move, especially if the population growth continues.
KapitanGopnik 58 Report post Posted July 11, 2016 As far as when this is being implemented, I wouldn't mind if it came sooner than A15, as we really don't know when TFP is going to get A15 off the ground. May still be months away.
McCragge 6 Report post Posted July 12, 2016 Personally speaking, I wouldn't mind if this happened before A15 either. I mean, it took them a LOONG time to go from A12.5 to A13, almost to the point that people thought it wasn't going to happen. Besides starting over can be fun too
DJ 186 Report post Posted July 14, 2016 In a week or two I will have the funds from my job to set this up and get it going. Hopefully it will be before I have to renew the other servers on the 24 for another month of service. In the meantime, if you ever see me ( Piranha50 ) on the servers, I will give you freebies since those servers will get wiped within the next few weeks sometime. Also with a dedicated server we will be able to add additional game servers on there for free, without adding anything to the overall monthly cost. So it does have its perks and benefits. This is also volunteer work for me and it will be a much more complicated setup than how it is currently, but I am really excited to get this going.
CrypticGirl 8 Report post Posted July 15, 2016 I'm looking forward to it. I'm just at the point where I don't even know what to do on the current servers anymore, so a fresh start would make things fun again. =)

DJ 186 Report post Posted August 6, 2016 UPDATE... I have been working on setting up a game server this past week, on a dedicated server from a web hosting company but haven't been able to get it to work. The server is ran with Linux commands via ssh and it turned out to be very confusing to setup and online guides that I have found are very outdated. As such, I'm considering going back to the previous provider as our main 7 Days To Die Game Server, since it has been a very reliable service. I'm also able to do this full-time again so I will now be able to maintain the server again on a daily basis. I may launch a new server from our previous provider within the next few days however our current server (PVE) seems to be more stable now and I may just decide to keep it. The current servers (PVE, PVP) will also still be available until further notice. Best Regards.
DJ 186 Report post Posted August 6, 2016 I will also continue to do research on setting up a dedicated game server via a web host and I may or may not launch a server with that setup sometime in the future.
