The Fort at Spawn

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, real talk time.

The Fort at Spawn has seen better days.  Every week or so she seems to need repairs due to the number of hordes she faces.  She was effective....when she was only needed to shelter new players who needed a duck off place for a rough night.  Now though, we have begun to use her for horde fishing.  Ive taken my own part in quite a few of these....and they are fun!

the problem is, Spawn is just not able to handle that over and over again.

Spawn was always billed as the place where new or experienced players could hide from a particularly rough night of zombieing, and i think that needs to stay.  However, I dont think that Horde Fishing will ever go away.  (I really dont think it should, as its a wonderful extra tension experience)

So my idea is that we build a place for Horde Fishing that is separate from the fort of Spawn, so that we now have a place for the newly joined to hide, and a place for the groups to test their mettle against the hordes.  Let me know what you guys think!!

I totally agree.  With all the horde fishing, Spawn just isn't as safe as it's supposed to be.  I died like three times thinking I was safe (for the second), and I don't even know how it happened. :/

I'm with you here, Spawn for me was a sanctuary...clean/organized and fun As I lived right across the street from it. I think the lack of Admins in game, or routine maintenance on and surrounding spawn has made it a target for vandals and disrespect, i take concrete and iron lately to repair bars and such but I'm eating through alot of materials and getting nowhere..

Looks like someone beat me to the punch!  There is now a secondary fort across the street from spawn that seems purposed for such a thing.  It even has an underground tunnel that connects it to Spawn.  To whoever built it, you have my true thanks!!  Also a LOT of new players who will have an intact place to hole up again.

I try to make a point of using thier new fort across the street; we still have a lot of players who instinctively battle the hordes from the old fort, so there's damage being done. Hopefully more will start directing the battles away so spawn can be a safer/better maintained area for players looking for sanctuary.

I do think the new fort is quite close to the spawn shelter, so even when players try to horde fish at the fort, some of the zombies might still attack the spawn if there are players just seeking shelter there.

I will make a new underground spawn location and then players can use the old location to fight off the hordes of zombies.

The new spawn has been built and is deep underground. When players visit the new spawn location it will let them know in the chat that they can use "/exit" command to leave there and it will teleport them to the "/oldspawn". These two new commands: "/exit", "/oldspawn" should all help players out in visiting these locations.

PvE2 Server desperately needs a Spawn/Safe local for new players and the like. The Current location has been almost leveled by vandals and what not. To be fair it was an apartment building, so it wasn't going to last the test of time.

Phinixx has been keeping it up with the help of a few others. I just wish the /spawn command actually put you inside of the fort. My fps crash on my potato laptop if I try an use /spawn. I tend to just run there if I have time to avoid the instant fps drop.

I am a little late to this conversation but I have been building a base across the street from spawn with the trench around it, and it has tunnel underneath so it's easier to take on zombies while they bang on the bars. I'd be happy to convert this so that it can be part of spawn? Let me know.

Where is the tunnel connected? I am in the process of building a tunnel system around Zooters

I don't know the tunnel system they speak of, although I mine under my base and I'm pretty sure my mine and the one under spawn could eventually connect.

Okay sounds good we are currently opening up the area East of spawn. Going to be doing some stuff there and already connects to the kill box and eventually it will connect to Moria

As I am finished building my base of operations, I wanted to challenge myself once again -- so I started building an underground subway line it runs from Spawn northward and will probably build it up to the apartments up the street. This is more of a fun little POI project, and will give players the option to walk north or south, off the roads at night.

Sweet. I was thinking of having the subways run along the same path as the main streets, north south east west so we don't have structural issues with poi/ bases collapsing.
