server problems Connection Issues And Other Server Related Problems - MEGATHREAD
melparrishjr replied to DJ's topic in 7 Days To Die
Piranharage, I am getting the same issues here. The RHG 7dtd pve server doesn't even appear on the steam server list but the new server ip address: 24.236.36.149, Port 26900 does appear in field below for the direct connect option. However, it does NOT work! --An error appears saying that it could not retrieve server info. The only RHG server that does appear on the server list is the Navezgane server. -
Used to be able to buy ammo too on the server store... Traders don't have it And it's a pain in the butt just trying to gather enough Nitrate to make gunpowder and then to make bullets it costs 3x gunpowder per round. In A14.7 the hardest thing to obtain was brass, but in A15 it's Nitrate. Meanwhile I have a few thousand zcoins and nothing to spend them on... no more ammo ...no more Bacon and Eggs ...No more store!

Pretty soon you'll need to make Two trips just to take all your money to the trader's not that he'll have anything that you'd want to buy for all that money. Meanwhile, I have a vending machine, and I can't sell even one item... NPC's are supposed to buy stuff but I have never seen even one of them in the game and it's sucks that you have such a monopoly on the whole vending machine thing anyway.

Ark; Survival Evolved is a pretty demanding game when it comes to system resources. I tried to run it on my PC but the lag was so bad even at the lowest possible settings that it was unplayable. When you say it's been added to the RHG network you don't mean that it's on the same server do you?

Somehow I don't think so... With just 6 payers on suddenly I found myself stranded between areas that refused to load correctly and I had to log out... when I try to re-enter the game I get forever stuck on the "Starting game..." screen and the game just won't start for me. -
Well, that does seem about right when those kinds of events are happening... but as I reported I was the only player on the server at that time last Friday morning. It could've been the mines going off at the military POI I was investigating. Despite their being banned from the server, they are part of the random gen that comes with the POI's and I guess it's part of the dev's idea of a practical joke on us --the players. But then it might not hurt to roll back that region of the map as I fell through the map on numerous occasions as I made my way their for the first time. Would be nice if you could somehow alter the scripts to not allow land mines to be generated when the POI's are generated. Otherwise the game itself is breaking server rules and you cannot even hope to enforce those rule when all we need to do is blame it on random gen. Banning any visits to those POI's wouldn't be right either, since they are an essential part of the game and one of the best place to obtain arms and ammunition which is otherwise pretty tough to find.

What to do when your favorite server (RHG) is down or having issues and you can't log in...?
melparrishjr replied to Strider's topic in General Discussion
Strider, like you, I have no idea what to do. It happens to me a lot ...I mean falling through the world, logging out and then can't get back on... I posted a bug report only a few days ago, when I was the only player on the server. I reported all the bugs and issues I encountered with the greatest of care to list every detail and I have yet to get any kind of response or acknowledgement. As a matter of fact it's why I'm here right now... I just got EAC kicked out of the game, when I was playing and everything seemed fine. EAC kicked!?!? Really?? And now I can't even get back into the game as I am forever stuck on the connecting to RHG server dialog. But I have absolutely no trouble at all connecting to and playing on other servers! RHG is in fact my favorite server and I don't mind paying my share to support it, especially when I actually get to play on it. But something is so wrong with the server and it's current settings somewhere that it won't let me play on it. -

I realize that to you this thread may an old one, or even one that you'd like to see closed. But it seems only too familiar like it was never concluded and the issues were never truly resolved. Back in the day during alpha 14.7 I played here on the RHG PVE2 server, and there were many issues with the server then. YES! "around day 1000" the sever started to "overload and crash" ...all of this continued through alpha 14.7 up until Oct 5, when you updated the server to the new stable version alpha 15. Now, in alpha 15 we are met with the same old gremlins. Only this time we needn't wait until "day 1000" before we can expect to see it happen all over again. I suspect that since the upgrade to alpha 15, you've done all but swap out and upgrade everything except the server's cpu. And if the cpu can't keep up, what does it matter that you've got brand spanking new ssd's installed or that you've even doubled the system's ram from 16 to 32 gb? You still have a bottleneck... and alpha 15 is not a small update either! In fact it's the largest update since the previous build. Alpha 15 brought with it nearly twice as much more new content than ever before. Today's date is Oct 28, 2016 and we're on day 672.13:37 and it's doing the same things all over again. It's not the software nor is it anything that is client side, but it's a server side tangle of issues all pointing to the cpu. It won't help to upgrade the graphics card either, seeing that it's not the server's function to display the graphics but to simply store, retrieve and upload files all the while doing the necessary calculations and processes to instruct our machines on what they should do with the files they receive. You really need a new cpu and the only practical way to get one is to get a new server. Not a new service, but a new server --the actual server unit itself needs to be replaced because it needs to be a lot faster if it is going to keep up with the demands of an ever growing server population trying to thoroughly enjoy alpha 15. -
While I was the only player on this morning around 6;13 am AZ time, I encountered a number of issues on the server. The issues include ; loot lag, falling through the world, commands not working, /zgates & /home teleports not working, EAC kicks, server not responding or too slow to respond, and I observed that the server clock appeared to be frozen at Day 672.13:37. Steps taken: Exited out of the game and restarted Steam. Ensured that game's settings are at the lowest values. Validated all 7DTD local game files. Exited Steam again and flushed my dns cache using "ipconfig /flushdns". Configured Malwarebytes exclusions lists to exclude the folder C;\Program files (x86) \Steam\Steam Apps\Common\7 Days To Die. Rebooted the computer. Restarted steam and attempted to join the server noting that the server time hadn't changed from the last time I had seen it. It took an unusually long time for the sever to respond and just as long for the game to start, but the issues were not resolved. Verified that I could connect to and play on another sever in a more timely manner without the aforementioned issues.

SSD's would be a great improvement to the overall fps! And I'd recommend as a stop-gap measure to partition your existing hard drives so that you can put the page file on it's own partition, thus eliminating the need to ever defragment the system which speeds things up significantly. -
Seems there is still a few bugs and kinks to work out with the server solution as the lag has gotten to be unbearable. I have flushed my dns so many times that you'd think it was a toilet and I'd had the the runs! Just getting onto the server is impossible at this point. I think your problem is much bigger than a few sticks of dynamite or TNT though they do cause a lot of lag... might even result from exploding gas barrels or "cave-in" mining which is a really efficient way to clear out a room when it's done a little bit at a time, but when a player tries to clear out a much larger room of for example 16 x 29 from bedrock up (as I once did on the RUM -PVP server) it can have devastating consequences to not only your fps but also your entire map. Mining out huge chunks of rock and ores using the "cave-in" technique may be the quickest way to clear a room but it is so quick that the server can't keep up with so many calculations and you'll find that the rock you intended to remove using this method will only hang there in mid air as one of the tell tale signs that someone's been excessively using the cave-in mechanic of the game to speed things along in their building. I believe it's ok to use but not abuse the game's own mechanics and make them work for you instead of against you ---But the excessive use of this particular game mechanic works against everyone!

On horde night I can often hear that frightfully ominous if not altogether annoying ringing tone as zombie bears attempt to break through my walls. As scary as that is I can only think how much more scary it would be if I missed a spot and they didn't... How close together do my lcb's need to be, to not have any holes in my defenses? The sever settings as listed are not very informative and it would be nice to know how strong our block protection is against zombies and how far that protection extends on all sides of the lcb. These are the questions that first arise when I think about building a base and how to defend it.

If not for the bugs and the lag I'd prefer the Minibikes: because zgate will only teleport you to places you've already been to, but minibikes can take you anywhere at anytime whether you've been there before or not. Their great for exploring the map and allow for a lot more spontaneity in your travels.

Building and killing zombies... That's all I wanna do.
melparrishjr posted a topic in Introduce Yourself
Hi all, my name is melparrishjr and I'm addicted to 7 Days to Die! And I love PVE. I hate pvp because I believe that the way we treat people in our gaming worlds is a reflection of how we'd treat them in the real world if we could. Now that might be ok for some but I don't want to be like that... I don't want to be a pirate and I don't want gank or be ganked. I wanna help people and do what I can to make sure they enjoy their game because when they enjoy it then we can all enjoy it --Together!!- 1 reply
